Firm History
In 1928 Harry Noland moved to Salinas to establish his law practice after graduating from Stanford Law School. Salinas was a thriving agricultural community of 5,000 people. Pioneers of the Salinas Valley’s modern produce industry sought Mr. Noland’s counsel in incorporating and operating early family businesses that, over the years, have become national and international industry leaders.
By 1973, he had been joined by Paul Hamerly, Myron “Doc” Etienne, and Peter Hoss. Since those early years, Noland, Hamerly, Etienne & Hoss has built its law practice on the fundamental philosophy of outstanding client service, integrity, excellence, and responsiveness. Our clients’ complete satisfaction is our goal.
Today we are one of the largest and most respected firms on the California Central Coast with offices in Salinas and Monterey. We serve clients in the Salinas Valley, on the Monterey Peninsula, and throughout Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, and Santa Clara counties. In addition, we are well-known for our firm’s community service contributions, supporting a wide array of local charitable, cultural, and educational organizations with our attorneys’ Board service and participation in fundraising activities. Our clients include national and international corporations, regional businesses, nonprofit and educational organizations, individuals, family owned businesses, and families, many of whom have lived in the region for generations.
