About Lindsey
Practice
A Salinas native, Lindsey Berg-James started her legal career with NHEH as a staff member in 2006. She held a variety of positions with the firm until she left to attend law school in 2009 (with strong encouragement from NHEH attorneys). After practicing in San Francisco for several years Lindsey rejoined NHEH as a litigation attorney in 2016. Lindsey advises clients on a wide variety of legal issues, including employment matters, construction defects, business disputes, and real property issues.
Lindsey enjoys helping clients find practical and creative solutions to their legal problems and is a strong believer in alternative dispute resolution. However, she recognizes that not all problems can be resolved outside of court and does not shy away from litigating a case through trial. Lindsey is an experienced trial attorney and thrives in the courtroom. She has successfully argued numerous substantive motions, including motions for summary judgment, motions to compel arbitration, and motions to dismiss in both state and federal court. She has tried multiple jury and court trials successfully to verdict and has argued cases before the Courts of Appeal.
Super Lawyers employs a patented process to recognize top attorneys nationwide, spanning various practice areas and firm sizes, providing a trusted resource for legal representation seekers with a three-decade presence in print and online media. NHEH is happy to announce that Lindsey Berg-James has been recognized as a 2023 Super Lawyer Rising Star. 2023 is the fifth year she has been named to the Northern California Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.
Background
Lindsey attended University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings College of the Law), and graduated magna cum laude in 2012. Prior to law school she received a BA in History from UC Berkeley. Lindsey taught elementary school through the Teach for America program for two years between undergrad and law school. She credits her tenacity and comfort with public speaking to this experience.
In addition to practicing law, Lindsey sits on the boards of the Monterey County Women Lawyers Association and MY Museum. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. Lindsey loves the outdoors and, in her (rare) spare time, enjoys swimming, hiking, and exploring new places.
